Our Great Story
All of our instructors have a background in other martial art styles. Most have previously been associated with Choi Kwang Do and were students of Grand Master Choi. We have carried Grand Master Choi's initial vision over to Universal Martial Art.
Spence Martial Art Academy continues to carry on the principles once articulated in Choi Kwang Do, "Humility, Integrity, Gentleness, Perseverance, Self-control, Unbreakable Spirit" in an effort to instill in the practitioner the ultimate achievement of "Certain Victory"
Deputy Grand Master Instructor Charles Spence
Deputy Grand Master Spence is a 7th Degree Black Belt, Deputy Grand Master, International Instructor, and Examiner. He has been studying and involved in Choi Kwang Do and now Universal Martial Art since 1997. Formerly an International Faculty member in Choi Kwang Do, Deputy Grand Master Spence is well versed in Martial Art instruction, Biomechanics, Kinesiology, and applied science. This helps to ensure that the instruction is both safe and effective.

Pil Seung
Pil Seung means "Certain Victory!" It is an indication and proclamation of confidence exhibited by the student. The student learns valuable skills, becomes more disciplined, and achieves optimal mental and physical health that allows him or her to overcome any obstacle, face any difficulty, and rise victorious over any challenge. Universal Martial Art is the way to go for the person that has these goals.
